About the French Artist

French artist born in Nice, Virginie Broquet travels, draws, and observes the world. From New York to Tokyo, from St. Louis in Senegal to Shanghai, she paints real life, the life of people. These moments of life reflect her curiosity about other places and people, with each image, like a painting, becoming an adventure!

Graduating from the Decorative Arts of Strasbourg in 1992, she won the “Alph Art Avenir” at the Angoulême Comic Festival in 1993. She was honored as a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2018.

She divides her work among press, comics, illustration, advertising, painting, and fashion, collaborating with brands like Isabel Marant and Xuly Bet. She has created around thirty books for adults and children, including “Recipes from a Grandmother to Her Granddaughter” with Sabine Cassel and Monica Bellucci and “Notebook of Senegal,” with texts by Richard Bohringer. Her latest book, “On the Road to the Embassies of France,” was published by La Martinière in September 2020. From her travel journals, large painted canvases in mixed techniques are born.

Virginie designed the Christmas windows of Printemps Haussmann in Paris in 2002, created the design for 25 floats for the Nice Carnival, and worked on the centenary of the Negresco, as well as for the Société des Bains de Mer in Monaco.

Her quote: « Everything that is meant to last takes a long time to grow. »
