About the Italian Artist
Gianni Depaoli uses needle and scalpel to study, transform, and ennoble cephalopod skins, aiming to stabilize organic waste through upcycling while preserving their natural beauty. Since 2007, his works and installations address environmental and social degradation, showcased in museums like the Civic Aquarium of Milan and the Biennale Internazionale d’Arte di Venezia. His exploration of color and corporality led to projects like “Abissi,” delving into known and unknown realms. Despite personal tragedies, he intensifies his focus on environmental and social issues, earning recognition and awards, including the Mediolanum Prize at ArtGenova 2022 and participation in the 59th Venice Art Biennale. In 2022, he becomes a member of the National Committee of Monaco for the International Association of Plastic Arts with UNESCO.
